FUTURE WORKSHOP AND CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENTS
CATS 2008 --- Computing: The Australasian Theory Symposium , University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.
The 14th CATS symposium will be held at the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, during January 22-25, 2008. CATS is one of the two premier annual conferences in theoretical computer science in the Asia-Pacific.
Keynote Speaker: Eric Allender, Rutgers, New Jersey

Authors were invited to submit papers that present original and unpublished research on topics including (but not limited to) the following areas:
- Algorithms and Data Structures, Complexity Theory, Graph Theory, Graph
- Algorithms and Combinatorics, Semantics of Programming Languages,
- Algorithms on Strings, Optimisation, Formal Program Specification and
- Transformation, Computational Algebra and Geometry, Computational
- Biology, Logic and Type systems, and New Paradigms of Computation.

Workshop on Algorithmics, Napier, New Zealand
The New Zealand Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (NZIMA) is funding a thematic programme on Algorithmics: "New Directions and Applications in 2008". To launch the programme, a workshop is being held in Napier, Feb 18-22 2008. The workshop includes two expository lectures by each of the invited speakers, as well as short contributed talks and problem sessions.
Invited Speakers will include:

- Brendan McKay, Australian National University
- Michael Mitzenmacher, Harvard University

RECENT NEWS OF CMSA MEMBERS and others
A Prof. Paul Bonnington has been appointed to the position of Professor (in association with the School of Mathematical Sciences) and Director of the Monash University e-Research Centre. Paul will be moving to Melbourne with his family at the end of the year to take up the position January 2008.

The AUSTRALASIAN JOURNAL OF COMBINATORICS
The web page for the Australasian Journal of Combinatorics is at http://ajc.math.auckland.ac.nz/.
The Journal is now published three times per year, in February, June and October. CMSA Members are entitled to a $10 discount per volume.
There is a search facility for past authors and for keywords in the titles of papers. Instructions to authors are also available at this web site.
The contents of all volumes, 1 to 38, are listed at the above web page, and volume 39 is currently being posted out.
We also now have free public access to the full papers in Volumes 1 to 28 inclusive. All but the last four years are available free.
Submissions to the Australas. J. Combin. may be sent to ajc at maths.uq.edu.au. Electronic submissions are encouraged. For paper submissions, please check the web page.
